3 Signs That Your Boiler Might Need To Be Repaired

Lori Harris

It is important to make sure that you are well aware of all of the signs that may indicate a problem with your boiler system for your home. This way, you can spot trouble before you find that you are completely without any heat in your home. To help you with this, you will want to take a few moments to review the following signs of boiler trouble.

Water Leak

Boiler systems use water, but you should never see any of that water on the floor around the base of the boiler. Even the smallest of water leaks is something that needs to be addressed as soon as possible. The leaking water can quickly get out of hand. It can damage your home and your boiler may be at risk for a serious problem if all of the water comes shooting out of it.

Strange Noises

You should not hear a lot of noises coming from your home boiler. If you do hear strange noises, such as banging sounds, you will need a boiler repair technician to take a look at the problem for you. The problem could be nothing more a broken a fan motor starting to go bad. It could also be a belt. It could also be a build up of natural gas due to a pilot light being set too low. Either way, you want to make sure that you are having the noises addressed so that it does not become a bigger issue than what it already is.

Pilot Light Keeps Going Out

Your natural gas boiler system will have a pilot light. If the pilot light keeps going out, there is a problem. It could be something as simple as a buildup of dirt in the pilot light mechanisms. It might just need to be cleaned or it may need to be replaced. Either way, a skilled boiler repair technician will be able to diagnose the problem for you and have it fixed in no time at all.

With those three signs of trouble in mind, you should have no trouble figuring out whether it is time to call in a repair technician. Should you find that your boiler is indeed in need of assistance, you will want to make that call right away. This way, you will be less at risk for finding yourself without heat during the colder months of the year.
